The innovative hydrogen powered 'Hydrogenesis' ferry

Ferry

We were asked by bristol City Council to develop a motor that can propel a hydrogen fueled ferry.

When set with this task we decided to develop, build and install a 12kW DC electric motor that would be powerful enough to propel the ferry whilst carrying up to 12 passengers and 2 crew members. The aim was to create an environmentally friendly way to cross the harbour.

Did you know?

The hydrogenesis produces zero emissions and the only waste product is water.

More about Hydrogen Power

The Hydrogenesis fuel cell uses a reverse electrolysis process that brings Hydrogen and Oxygen together with a catalyst to create electricity. Hydrogen is the most abundant elements in the Universe and can be generated close to the point of use.

As an alternative fuel to diesel, using Hydrogen to power and electric motor impacts significantly less on the environment producing zero emissions and the only waste product is water.
