At Lynch Motors, in 2010 we were commissioned by Windermere Lake Cruises to replace petrol engines used in self drive boats with electric motors.
Having already tried electric motors from another supplier they found the backup service to be very poor and decided to find a new supplier.
Lynch Motors were immediately contacted and Trevor travelled to Lake Windermere to convert the petrol engines currently powering self drive boats on one of England's largest lakes.
Ongoing Development
Following the huge success of the initial project, Windermere Lake Cruises have contained to convert their existing petrol powered boats with electric motors using the Lynch Motor System- and will continue to do so moving forwards.
What was the customer response?

The electric motors are much quieter than the original internal
combustion engine. The electric motors are cleaner and more environmentally friendly, which is an important factor on an inland waterway such as Windermere.
Furthermore, there is no cooling water, petrol or oil used and the risk of contamination and other problems are no longer present The financial savings have been phenomenal and the ever escalating price of petrol is less of a concern."
